- ➤ On Thursday, Jan. 29, over 70 volunteers from Interfaith Community Services and the Regional Task Force on Homelessness conducted Escondido’s annual point-in-time count to help secure HUD funding and address the needs of local homeless residents. - ➤ D.K. Harrell performed modern blues at the CCAE Center Theater on Friday, Feb. 6, drawing a sold-out crowd with his dynamic guitar work. The center has refreshed its membership program that offers exclusive presale access for upcoming blues shows in April and June. Escondido Times-Advocate

- ➤ Escondido resident Royce Williams, a 100-year-old retired Navy captain, is scheduled to receive the Medal of Honor after keeping his heroic Korean War dogfight secret for decades. Local veterans and officials campaigned after declassified records revealed his 1952 mission against Soviet jets. The Vista Press

- ➤ Former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees was elected to the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame and his induction ceremony is scheduled for early August in Canton (Ohio). Fans remember his San Diego years as the start of a record-setting career. CBS8
