- ➤ Shelter to Soldier will host its 7th Annual 'Saving Lives, One Swing at a Time' Golf Tournament on Friday, April 24 at Singing Hills Golf Club at Sycuan in El Cajon (registration opens at 10:00 a.m. with a noon shotgun start, and proceeds support rescue dog and veteran programs). - ➤ Wounded Warrior Homes in Escondido offers safe, affordable housing and mental health support for veterans with a new center serving women, where two families now reside. A NFL Legends Celebrity Golf Tournament is planned May 15 and 16 at San Marcos Golf Course to raise funds for the facility and services. The Vista Press

- ➤ At SDUSD, over 200 positions (including cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and teacher aides) are at risk as plans to reassign half of staff could reduce cuts to about 70 jobs; layoff decisions across the district are expected by May 15. NBC San Diego
- ➤ Bill Connard of E-bike Super Shop explained that true e-bikes are split into three classes: Class 1 and 2 help up to 20 mph (helmets required for riders under 18) and Class 3 helps up to 28 mph for riders 16 and older; bikes without pedals are not e-bikes. CBS8
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The San Diego Humane Society is hosting Coyote Awareness Week from March 16–22 to teach locals about coyotes’ role in keeping the ecosystem balanced and to remind residents to secure trash and keep pets leashed. Officials advise using humane hazing—such as clapping and making noise—if coyotes are encountered near neighborhoods. NBC San Diego

- ➤ Supervisor Jim Desmond has presented a plan to help youth sports organizations access lifesaving AEDs by offering vouchers, installing units at eight parks facilities, + launching a two-year training campaign.
