  • Escondido's Lounsbery, Ferguson, Altona + Peak marks its 30th anniversary this week for municipal law work including Proposition B and the City of San Marcos Charter. Eagle Partners closed a $162.5-million deal on two senior housing communities with 551 units in North County on March 10 offering resort-style amenities.  Escondido Times-Advocate
  • Alhiser-Comer Mortuary has acquired Allen Brothers Mortuary’s Vista and San Marcos chapels in North County, uniting two family-owned funeral homes with deep community roots.   • Butterfly Jungle takes flight Saturday at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with a vibrant exhibit of butterflies + unique garden features that promise an Instagrammable experience for visitors.  NBC San Diego
  • Five CCAE team members were finalists at the Together for Good Conference on March 10 at UCSD Park + Market San Diego and two received top honors for nonprofit leadership. The awards recognize their role in driving local innovation.  Escondido Times-Advocate
  • On March 9, the Escondido Public Art Commission voted to move forward with three finalists (Fallbrook, Eugene, Berkeley) for a $500,000 roundabout sculpture themed 'Authentically Escondido' to be installed at the Grand Avenue & Broadway roundabout, with a final recommendation set for city council.  Escondido Times-Advocate
  • The Escondido Art Association opened its annual Kids Kaleidoscope Exhibition at the Grand Ave. gallery on Saturday, March 14. Student art in drawings, paintings, sculpture and more was showcased, and awards were handed out in several categories through April 3.  Escondido Times-Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • EUHSD honored Escondido High School’s ASB Director Heather Weiner as Teacher of the Year and Valley High School’s Alternative Ed Administrative Secretary Celeste Vera as Classified Employee of the Year on Friday, March 20. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Escondido City Council will honor Korean War air hero Royce Williams with a proclamation at council chambers on April 1 at 5:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend the ceremony following his Medal of Honor award.  Escondido Times-Advocate
  • The San Diego County Water Authority secured a 21-year water deal with Western Municipal Water District and a Riverside agency, promising 10,000 acre-feet of water yearly and $13.5 million in annual revenue for the county. The water will be delivered through existing systems to supply about 30,000 households.  The Coast News
