  • North County Global Youth Service Day will be held for youth aged 12 and older and is organized by North County JustServe Specialists & hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; youth will need to bring a jar of peanut butter for the North County Food Bank. They can choose from service projects such as sanding and oiling toy cars, tying blankets for those in need or wrapping children’s books as Christmas gifts & later enjoy an activity hour with light refreshments and games like mega dodgeball, 9-square and giant parachute games.  The Vista Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation and Six String Society will host Tommy Castro and the Pain Killers with special guests Sue Palmer and Liz Ajuzie on Sunday, June 15 at 3 p.m. at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido—tickets start at $32 at the box office and go up to $102 with a VIP meet and greet option available.  The Vista Press

  • The Escondido Police Department now offers text and email alerts via Nixle so residents can get updates on emergencies, road closures, and missing person reports.
