ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Monday's 5.2 earthquake hit near Julian — shaking was felt across San Diego County and in parts of Kearny Mesa — and the USGS recorded seven aftershocks by 10:30 a.m. No tsunami is expected. NBC San Diego
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Today, several restaurant chains in Escondido offer Tax Day deals that include free items and discounts; offers feature one-cent cheeseburgers at Burger King for Royal Perks members, discounted doughnuts at Krispy Kreme, savings at Smoothie King, Shake Shack, and 7-Eleven, and other deals that may require promo codes or minimum purchases. Some deals run only on Tax Day while others extend through the week to give customers more time to save. NBC San Diego
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Engineers at UC San Diego tested a full-scale residential wood building on their outdoor shake table — performing over 200 earthquake simulations including one that mimicked the 6.7 magnitude Northridge quake — to improve structure resilience. They are now constructing a 10-story steel building with tests scheduled to begin in June to further enhance building safety. CBS8
