  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego rolled out The Lunch Box, a food truck that serves free meals and offers job training for local youth after debuting early in April at the Oceanside Farmers Market. Teens aged 16 to 18 have an opportunity to earn food handler licenses and gain work experience as the program helps feed over 16,000 youth each year.  NBC San Diego

HEALTH NEWS

  • A UC San Diego study showed that survivors of the 2018 Camp Fire had trouble choosing long-term rewards as their brains became hyper-aroused during decision-making tasks—researchers measured this with EEG brain scans. The study, published Wednesday, suggests that mindfulness and compassion training may help ease the effects of climate trauma.  NBC San Diego
