- ➤ Escondido Public Library will have limited services for about a month after its last day on April 26 as staff move books to a temporary location at North County Mall while the main facility is renovated. Limited services such as book pickups and literacy programs will continue until May 26 — city officials said the relocation cost of $828,000 will be covered by general funds. The Coast News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A judge paused on Tuesday a Treasury order that required money services businesses to file detailed reports on transactions over $200 in seven San Diego ZIP codes and Imperial counties—granting a temporary restraining order for up to 28 days over concerns about privacy and extra work for small business owners. The next hearing is set for May 15 when a judge will consider a request for a preliminary injunction to fully block the rule while the lawsuit continues. NBC San Diego
- ➤ This week, crews install cable railing on the south side of the Creek Trail between Broadway and Juniper Street and work on the irrigation system between Juniper and Fig Street. Over the next three weeks, crack sealing, seal coating, and trenching for new walkways will cause temporary trail closures between Harmony Grove and Quince Street — flaggers will be on site to direct trail users. - ➤ County supervisors backed a state bill that will extend sex trafficking protection to include 16 year olds and 17 year olds and expand support services for survivors. The bill will be heard before the Assembly Public Safety Committee on April 29 and has bipartisan backing from local leaders—one supervisor did not vote because he joined by teleconference.
