- ➤ Smoke rose over Escondido after a 10-acre brush fire started yesterday near Safari Park on state Route 78—threatening a structure on Highland Valley Road—while firefighters used air and ground crews to fight the blaze that could burn 30 acres. NBC San Diego

- ➤ Firefighters battled a brush fire that burned 49.7 acres near San Pasqual Academy on the 17700 block of San Pasqual Valley Road on May 16 & stopped the forward spread by 6 p.m. while keeping structures safe and the smoke visible from miles away. CBS8
- ➤ A brush fire started Friday afternoon near the Safari Park on Route 78 by Academy San Pasqual in Escondido, burning 10 acres and threatening up to 30 acres, according to Cal Fire. Fire crews using ground teams, air tankers and helicopters gained ground by 3:45 p.m. to protect a nearby structure - more details remain pending. NBC San Diego
