Mayor Todd Gloria will present a revised 2026 budget draft this week that proposes closing all 37 city libraries on Sundays and Mondays to save about $8 million — a plan that has many local residents worried about losing essential reading and learning time.
Local library users, including longtime patrons like Naomi Pyle, voiced their concerns and hope the city council will find better ways to cut spending — a debate that is expected to continue as the budget is reviewed.
