  • Officials at Ramona Wildlife Center celebrated a historic milestone Sunday as pygmy hippo Hannah Shirley became the oldest animal in managed care—she now exceeds a record age of 51 years, 6 months and 2 days and has lived 23 years since her 2002 rescue from an Escondido backyard.  NBC San Diego

  • Before Sunday's series finale against the Braves in Atlanta, the Padres placed Michael King (their best starter this season) on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation and recalled David Morgan from Triple-A. The team rallied with multiple home runs in a 5-3 win and will face the Marlins on Memorial Day at Petco Park.  NBC San Diego
