ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A brush fire broke out near Henderson Road and Pala Mission Road yesterday and burned over 180 acres as officials issued evacuation orders and warnings with a temporary shelter at the Pala Casino Parking Lot — 11154 Highway 76 — while Cal Fire said the cause is under investigation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Caltrans will begin five road improvement projects across parts of I-805, I-5 and SR-78 this fall, spending more than $600 million to repair roads and upgrade safety, including a project on a 17.7-mile stretch of SR-78 that affects Escondido. Officials warned that drivers may face detours, lane closures and overnight work as communities receive advance notifications (local drivers noted the changes may also improve vehicle maintenance).
