- ➤ Don Diego Scholarship Foundation announced a total of $93,500 in college scholarships for 25 students from San Diego County; the winners will be honored at a June 27 gala and Jon Pardi concert at the County Fair—an event that will also acknowledge longtime Board member Joe Harper. - ➤ Greg Rubin of California’s Own Native Landscape Design says that watering yards close to the home and cutting back flammable vegetation within the first 5 feet makes yards more fire-resistant during peak wildfire season—San Diego Fire-Rescue Assistant Fire Marshal Alex Kane advised homeowners to clean roofs, gutters and vents to lower fire risks.
