- ➤ Today, Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones (R-San Diego) congratulated Senator Monique Limón on her election as Senate President Pro Tempore and said he looks forward to working in a bipartisan way, while also thanking former Pro Tem Mike McGuire for his service. Jones represents the 40th Senate District, which includes Escondido and nearby communities. The Vista Press
- ➤ At the June meeting, Darren Gretler of Supervisor Desmond’s Office and Caltrans representatives presented updates on budget challenges—including a $138 million shortfall in requested funds and an $8.6 billion allocation—and planned improvements to State Route 78 near Escondido. Officials also previewed public hearings on local infrastructure and safety projects with the next Government Affairs meeting set for August 7. The Vista Press
- ➤ San Diego County today launches the Shelter Ready app—this tool gives outreach workers real-time data on available shelter beds and lets them reserve spots for clients to improve access during high-need times. NBC San Diego
- ➤ Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones said raids in Los Angeles sweep up extra illegal immigrants because local law enforcement did not work with federal agents— he claimed that had Senate Bill 554 passed to require cooperation, the issue would have been prevented. The Vista Press
