Jones (R-San Diego) congratulated Senator Monique Limón on her election as Senate President Pro Tempore and said he looks forward to working in a bipartisan way, while also thanking former Pro Tem Mike McGuire for his service. Jones represents the 40th Senate District, which includes Escondido and nearby communities.

At the June meeting, Darren Gretler of Supervisor Desmond’s Office and Caltrans representatives presented updates on budget challenges—including a $138 million shortfall in requested funds and an $8.6 billion allocation—and planned improvements to State Route 78 near Escondido.

Officials also previewed public hearings on local infrastructure and safety projects with the next Government Affairs meeting set for August 7.
