- ➤ The San Diego County Farm Bureau will host Farm Tour Day on Saturday, June 28 at 9 a.m. in Escondido—local farmers will lead guided walking tours every half hour at farms growing mushrooms, succulents, cacti, citrus and avocados while the day ends with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine with any tasting purchase. - ➤ Escondido police will patrol on Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. to check for drivers suspected of DUI as the Fourth of July holiday approaches—officers warn that alcohol, marijuana, and certain prescription drugs can impair driving. Escondido Times-Advocate

- ➤ The Children’s Museum of Discovery celebrated its 25th birthday on Saturday — unveiling a new name to clarify its location, and the event took place at its campus across the street from Grape Day Park. - ➤ The California Center for the Arts in Escondido opened the XICANA! San Diego exhibit Friday which celebrates Chicana artists and featured local figures like Escondido City Councilmember Judy Fitzgerald—close to 400 people attended the record-setting reception. - ➤ The Escondido Union School District board selected Andy McGuire on June 17 to lead 14,000 K–8 students when current superintendent Dr. Rankins-Ibarra retires next year—his contract will be finalized at the board meeting on July 24 at 7 p.m., and he will begin a one-year transition on July 1 before fully assuming his duties on July 1, 2026. - ➤ Board of Supervisors member Jim Desmond said that many veterans in San Diego County still sleep on the streets despite a recent drop in veteran homelessness, and he will introduce a board letter today proposing a pilot program to add more RHAP beds and extra funding for case management.
