A UC San Diego study found that non-native honeybees take most of the pollen from local native plants, which can harm native bees that need pollen to feed their young.

Researchers tested black sage, white sage and distant phacelia and found that two honeybee visits removed over 60% of the pollen — leaving little for native pollinators.
