- ➤ Fire crews responded after a brush fire started today around 2:15 p.m. on Star Acres Drive in Rancho San Diego— the five-acre blaze threatened structures on Vista Ciello Lane and prompted evacuations north of Campo Road and southeast of Jamacha Road with Steele Canyon High School serving as the evacuation center. - ➤ On Wednesday, a brush fire started near Campo Road and Star Acres Drive in Jamul and forced evacuations near State Route 94 before CAL FIRE stopped its forward spread at 5 p.m.—by 6:25 p.m., the fire had burned 28 acres with 40% containment and crews remained on scene near Steele Canyon High School to extinguish hot spots.
