The San Diego Humane Society in Escondido invites local residents to adopt nearly 200 small pets+121 guinea pigs, 52 rabbits, and 12 rodents, though fewer than half are ready due to pending treatments and surgeries; adoption centers are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends until 7 p.m.

Valley Pkwy in Escondido that will house low-income seniors and formerly homeless veterans received a $2 million grant from the state’s REAP 2.0 funding — one of 10 affordable housing projects to benefit from a total of $14 million.
