- ➤ Three meteor showers are active this month and skywatchers in Escondido can see shooting stars through mid-August. The alpha Capricornids will peak July 29–30 and the Perseids are set to peak August 12–13 — clear skies may offer about five to 25 meteors per hour. NBC San Diego
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ San Diego FC kept first place with a 1—1 draw against Vancouver when rookie Ian Pilcher scored an equalizer in the 80th minute—giving them the season tiebreaker. They will host Nashville on July 25. NBC San Diego
- ➤ The Padres struggled to bring home runners and fell 4 to 2 to the Nationals on Saturday night after leaving bases loaded and facing thunderstorm delays in Washington. Yu Darvish pitched 5 innings and allowed three runs— the team can still win the series today when Nick Pivetta starts against former Friar MacKenzie Gore— as they look to turn the series around.
