Paul Donn, a silverback gorilla, has returned to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park today to rejoin the troop he was raised in after the previous silverback died last year—joining a 44-year-old female gorilla named Jessica; visitors can now view the troop in the Gorilla Forest.

An immersive Elephant Valley exhibit will let visitors walk among elephants and learn about their roles as ecosystem engineers.

The project features pathways lined with over 350 African savanna plants, a two-story restaurant called Mkutano House, and a gathering area known as Mkutano Park—opening in early 2026.
