- ➤ Ammar Campa-Najjar announced he will run again for the CA-48 seat he lost to Rep. Issa in 2020 — his campaign will focus on a fair economy and affordable health care. Lawmakers have proposed a new district map that adds Escondido and other East County areas to the ballot on Nov. 4. NBC San Diego

- ➤ The Dodgers avoided a sweep on Sunday when they scored five runs in the 7th inning on two long home runs—beating the Padres 8—2 at Petco Park and tying for first in the NL West. The Padres' bullpen, which kept the Dodgers to four runs in the first 24 innings, faltered later by giving up six more runs. NBC San Diego
