- ➤ Hawthorne Country Store will hold its 22nd annual Flocktoberfest on Saturday, October 4 at 10 a.m.—5 p.m. in Escondido so families can meet the Flockers and learn about backyard chicken care while picking out new chicks. Escondido Times-Advocate
- ➤ On September 25, the Escondido Community Foundation awarded $203,000 to nine local nonprofits at a celebration at Orfila Vinyard and Winery–each grant supports programs that deliver meals, transportation, storytelling, yoga, and more to help low-income seniors reduce isolation and access vital services. - ➤ The Cruisin’ Grand’s 2025 finale called Nitro Nite took place on Friday, September 26 along Grand Avenue in Escondido—vintage racecars, dragsters, and live music drew a large crowd, with a 1985 Delorean attracting special attention for its Back to the Future look. - ➤ From Oct. 1 to 31, Kids Free San Diego gives children 12 and under free entry to many museums and attractions in the county—most venues offer free access for either the whole family or two youngsters with an adult ticket. - ➤ Lake Wohlford Road will be closed to through traffic from Monday, October 6 through Friday, October 17, weekdays only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews will repair the roadway, fencing and drainage—improving conditions, extending the pavement's life and keeping local businesses open via a posted detour with expected delays. - ➤ The North County Transit District will pilot FLIRT H2 zero-emission hydrogen trains in a project with Caltrans starting in 2027 or 2028—officials say the program will let the public see the new trains on the LOSSAN corridor before they are used on services like Sprinter as state support for hydrogen grows. The Coast News

- ➤ San Pasqual High won its game 55—21 over Westview last Friday, becoming the only local prep team with a winning record and improving to a 3—2 record under head coach Tony Corley. The team showed strong play from quarterback Robert Renteria and wideout Marcus Rocha as it continued an eight-game home winning streak. Escondido Times-Advocate
- ➤ Escondido driver Jason Cagle missed the August 16 Sport Compacts race for his son's karting event but returned on September 13 to win both the heat and main races at Barona Speedway—he said the car held together well despite handling issues.
