  • As October begins, San Diego County remembers domestic violence victims and launches a monthlong campaign to raise awareness & provide support for affected families.  NBC San Diego

CULTURE NEWS

  • Escondido Art Association will host the 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' exhibition at the Grand Ave Gallery from Oct. 8 to Oct. 31. The event includes art drop off on Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a live art forum on Oct. 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and a gallery reception on Oct. 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. — where local artists will share their creative insights.  The Vista Press

  • Escondido is partnering with CSUSM on an Economic Development Business and Jobs Survey that asks residents about spending habits and job preferences. The survey will shape future retail, entertainment, and employment opportunities—guiding economic growth in our community.  City of Escondido
  • A state-run program gives SDG&E customers an $81.38 energy bill credit in October, as part of efforts to fight climate change administered by the California Public Utilities Commission—residential customers with natural gas service will receive additional credits that total $217 in bill reductions in 2025.  NBC San Diego

FINANCE NEWS

  • San Diego County residents have five days to claim any of the $1.139 million in unclaimed money before it goes into the general fund—refund amounts range from $15 to $33,261.31 and claims must be filed by Oct. 5 following the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s instructions.  NBC San Diego

HEALTH NEWS

  • Laura Gaytan, who had been on dialysis for five years because of kidney disease, met with Michelle Lowenthal on Thursday to thank her late Marine son for donating one of his kidneys that saved her life one week before her 26th birthday. She said she will keep his memory alive—honoring a gift that changed both families forever.  NBC San Diego

  • Tickets for the 46th annual Holiday Bowl went on sale Thursday giving fans a chance to attend the college football game set for January 2 at Snapdragon Stadium—where a Bowl Bash, parade, and game day 5K will add excitement as kickoff occurs at 5 p.m. PST on Fox.  NBC San Diego
