  • Friends of Lake Hodges hosted a Jam For the Dam fundraiser on Saturday afternoon at board member Maryam Ramin’s home—guests enjoyed music and wine—and learned about plans to replace the 107-year-old dam that shows signs of wear.  The Vista Press

  • San Diego-based muralist Michelle Guerrero partnered with MTS for Hispanic Heritage Month to design a limited-edition Pronto card featuring her vibrant piñata character Chucho—who represents cultural resiliency. The card is available at a pop-up event in Escondido where local residents lined up to receive it.  NBC San Diego

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill 30 that lets gas stations sell E15 fuel, which a UC Berkeley study shows may cut gas prices by 20 cents per gallon. The California Air Resources Board will study E15's environmental effects before updating regulations for its permanent use.  NBC San Diego
  • San Diego County Supervisor Anderson and Sheriff Martinez held a Wildfire Safety Town Hall Monday evening in Ramona to teach residents how to prevent fires and prepare for evacuations during the season. County agencies — including CAL FIRE and SDG&E — also shared advice on recovery and managing power shutoffs as wildfire risks increased.  CBS8

  • El Camino football fell 52-28 to Poway at Herb Meyer Stadium Friday during homecoming, dropping the team to a 2-4 record.
