Alta Vista Botanical Gardens hosted the 17th Fall Fun Festival on a busy Saturday when 800 people enjoyed the event and 26 families submitted scarecrows; first prize went to Linda Gutierrez + second prize went to the Carlin Family and third prize to Mission Meadows Elementary School Gardening Club, with the scarecrows set to be on display until August 2026.

Today, visitors to the California Center for the Arts in Escondido will see Ricardo Breceda’s towering metal sculptures from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including works of a dinosaur, a rattlesnake, and majestic rams (each created as a tribute to California’s desert spirit).

The one-day pop-up exhibition also offers educational displays, family art activities, and a chance to meet the artist.
