- ➤ Alta Vista Botanical Gardens hosted the 17th Fall Fun Festival on a busy Saturday when 800 people enjoyed the event and 26 families submitted scarecrows; first prize went to Linda Gutierrez + second prize went to the Carlin Family and third prize to Mission Meadows Elementary School Gardening Club, with the scarecrows set to be on display until August 2026. - ➤ Today, visitors to the California Center for the Arts in Escondido will see Ricardo Breceda’s towering metal sculptures from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including works of a dinosaur, a rattlesnake, and majestic rams (each created as a tribute to California’s desert spirit). The one-day pop-up exhibition also offers educational displays, family art activities, and a chance to meet the artist. The Vista Press
