- ➤ On Wednesday, fourth and fifth-graders at Horton Elementary experienced a holiday shopping spree at a Walmart in Kearny Mesa, guided by Padres representatives as part of the Padres Holiday Giving Tour that continues through December, instilling a love of giving and community spirit. CBS8
- ➤ Divona Roy, a long-time member of the Escondido Chapter, was installed as Grand Martha of the Order of the Eastern Star at the statewide convention in Visalia on Oct. 18 — her term runs until the next meeting in Oct. 2026. Escondido Times-Advocate

- ➤ Orange Glen High School celebrated the Patriot Café’s 10th anniversary on Nov. 21 by hosting a three-course meal prepared by students that highlighted community support, with teachers Kristi Sovacool, Laura Gardiner, Daniel Reyes and Supt. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Diego County will raise fees for park camping, parking, fishing permits, boat launches and community center rentals starting Jan. 2. Reservations made before the change will keep current prices while nonprofits + veterans, seniors and groups continue to receive discounts. NBC San Diego

- ➤ Lynn Morgan’s Zumba dance fitness classes at Park Avenue Community Center in Escondido are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and will continue through Dec. 18, with January registration that opened on Dec. 2.
