- ➤ Retail stores statewide will stop offering plastic bags starting Jan. 1, 2026, as a new law takes effect. Shoppers must use paper bags that cost at least 10 cents, and by 2028 these bags must be made with 50% recycled material (exempting food assistance program users). CBS8

- ➤ County Chair Terra Lawson-Remer will introduce a resolution on Tuesday in San Diego County that opposes new offshore oil drilling, joining Supervisor Paloma Aguirre and local environmental groups to support a law that bans future drilling leases along the Southern California coast. CBS8
