ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • ➤ A brush fire broke out near Henderson Road and Pala Mission Road yesterday and burned over 180 acres as officials issued evacuation orders and warnings with a temporary shelter at the Pala Casino Parking Lot — 11154 Highway 76 — while Cal Fire said the cause is under investigation.  NBC San Diego

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ➤ Caltrans will begin five road improvement projects across parts of I-805, I-5 and SR-78 this fall, spending more than $600 million to repair roads and upgrade safety, including a project on a 17.7-mile stretch of SR-78 that affects Escondido. Officials warned that drivers may face detours, lane closures and overnight work as communities receive advance notifications (local drivers noted the changes may also improve vehicle maintenance).  NBC San Diego
