GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Escondido awarded a $2.36 million contract for its first-ever splash pad at Grove Park (745 N. Ash St.) on July 23, and Western State Builders will begin work in September with the project expected to open by spring. The construction will close parts of the park for six months while the city works with local schools to set up alternative parking.  The Coast News
  • Mayor Dane White announced his re-election campaign on July 17 and is running for a second term in the November 2026 election. He led efforts to curb homelessness, boost public safety, and support small businesses in Escondido — efforts he plans to expand if re-elected.  The Coast News
  • The county is giving new life to Heritage Park in Old Town—where seven historic Victorian buildings stand—as it works to preserve local history.  NBC San Diego
